Description
- Anthony van Dyck
- Portrait of a lady, full length, standing wearing a blue dress
- oil on canvas
Condition
The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is generally sound other than two small damages lower centre, as visible in the the catalogue illustration. The varnish is yellowed and dirty. Some areas, in particular the blue of the sitter's dress, are quite thin. Inspection under UV light is impeded by the varnish but scattered retouchings are apparent, in particular an area of restoration along the top edge. Offered in a gilt wood frame with elaborately carved corners which is in fair condition but with some minor knocks.
