- Frans Pourbus the Elder
- a portrait of a lady, three-quarter length, wearing a black dress and white lace collar
- signed with monogram and dated upper left: RP/ Anno. 1622.
- oil on canvas, in a carved wood frame
- 92.2 by 76 cm.; 36 1/4 by 29 7/8 in.
Condition
The painting is more contrasted than the catalogue illustration and less yellow in tone.
The canvas has been quite recently relined. There is a T shape restored tear (approx. 13 by 12 cm.) in her left sleeve. The paint surface is under a slightly uneven varnish. The surface is abraded especially in the flesh tones however her dress has retained good detail. There are numerous discolored retouchings thoughout the composition visible to the naked eye.
Offered in a carved wood frame in good condition, some chips.
