Condition
STRUCTURE
The canvas has been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
There appears to be evidence of an old restored damage to the lower right hand corner of the sitter's dress, as well as another in the foliage above this, and possibly a third to the right of the sitter's left shoulder.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals a thick varnish which obscures a clear reading. However, there is evidence of some minor scattered retouchings to the background and to the sitter's face and costune. These are all minor and largely cosmetic. Some have discoloured and are visible under a strong light.
FRAME
Held in a carved wood frame.
