"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The canvas is lined and the paint layer is secure and flat. The painting has been recently restored and under Ultra-violet light large restored losses to the background can easily be detected. These restorations are good and well textured. The paint to the putti is in good condition with one small restored loss the central putto's left hand. The paint loss aside, the rest of the painting is of good quality with good preserved paint texture. There is no tonal advantage to be gained from removing the varnish."
