Provenance

Anonymous sale ("The Property of a Gentleman"), London, Christie's, 3 May 1902, as "Rosa di Tivoli" for 7 1/2  Guineas to Renton.

Condition

The canvas is relined. The paint surface retains much of its impasto and is secured by a yellowed and uneven varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals some strengthenings and retouchings throughout. Offered in a wood and plaster frame in fair condition. The painting would benefit from a clean.
