New York, 1845, large wall-map on rollers, printed area 685 x 985mm., in contemporary hand-colour, composed of two sheets joined, with three additional panels pasted outside the lower border, the varnish a little discoloured, the lower roller partially detached, slight fraying

Catalogue Note
The additional panels contain portraits of ten American presidents, and five scenes from American history, including a large image of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, identifying individual signatories, keyed to an inset in the main map, and reproducing the text of the Declaration. Within the map are insets depicting the chief rivers and mountains of the world, with a map of the world, and insets of the vicinity of fourteen important American cities, including New York, Philadelphia and Boston, the northern part of Maine and southern part of Florida.
