Catalogue Note

rare. The complete work, which appeared between 1853 and 1869, comprised five parts: geography, climatology and zoology, botany, geology and palaeontology. The present volume contains the plates to the first part only, including views of Smyrna, Trebizond, Sinope, Heraclea, Kayadjik, Chanak-Kalessi, Imbros and Samothrace. Together with this volume of views, is a large folding map, published separately, but in the same year to accompany this work.
