Catalogue Note
the hamburg qur'an, until 1987 considered the first printed edition of the Arabic text. Abraham Hinckelmann (1652-1695), a Hamburg theologian, studied at Wittemberg and collected many oriental manscripts. He also planned a Latin translation of the Qur'an, although this did not appear.
