Catalogue Note
A remarkable composing manuscript by the great clarinettist, composer and arranger Artie Shaw (1910-2004). It dates from 1947, when Shaw took one of his periodic breaks from performing, in this case to study classical clarinet. One two-bar draft headed 'Sad Sack - Intro. flourish' was possibly intended for the blues piece "The Sad Sack", named after Sgt. George Baker's comic-book character from World War II.
