Description
- Autograph letter signed ("R."), to Therese Schumann
concerning the arrangements for her visit to Leipzig, stating that [he] plans to leave [for Zwickau, in order to collect her,] on the following Monday or Tuesday, asking her to write straight away and let him know if she will be staying in Zwickau until Thursday (Ascension Day), endeavouring to persuade her of the benefits of making the journey, noting that even the view from the carriage will do her good, and adding that she must see [Meyerbeer's opera] Les Huguenots; in the closing part of the letter, Schumann relates some family news, commenting, amongst other things, on the industriousness of his brother Eduard
1 page, 8vo, integral autograph address panel, later pencil annotation to head of recto ('Nicht zu benutzen'), gilt edges, Leipzig, 26 April 1837, splitting along folds, slightly affecting text in two places, corners creased
