Description

  • Two autograph notes
1) apparently to Felix Greissle, probably concerning the piano and violin edition of the Violin Concerto, Op.36, providing instructions concerning the widths of the stave lines, containing an example of a system in his own hand; Schoenberg asks him whether he might not be able to write the parts out the same size as the original, as Schirmer will be reducing it in size; he notes, however, that if his proportions are not practical, then he should do it another way, and concludes by complimenting him on his fine manuscript

1 page, 4to, in pencil, no place or date [c.1938?], on transparent paper, creased, a few small tears, splitting along central fold

2) possibly to Greissle, discussing the representation of an articulation mark, noting that he does not find it good when the symbol is inverted, finding it unnecessary that the noteheads be 'speared' in this way

1 page, 10.9 x 14cm, written in pink crayon, no place or date [c.1938, or earlier?]
