- Four autograph and scribal manuscripts by Donizetti, Mercadante and Spohr
Donizetti. Manuscript of part of an aria from a opera buffa, in a scribal hand, with autograph revisions by Donizetti, the full score for bass voice and orchestra, written in dark brown ink on fourteen staves per page, with the new Italian words written by the composer, and the original Neapolitan scribal text deleted by him, with autograph music for the orchestral bass line and a few dynamic markings also in his hand ("sempre alla scuola fatt' ho il poltrone non ho imparato mezza lezione mai al maestro davo speranza di concordare la sconcor[danza]", twelve bars in all, 2 pages, oblong 4to (c.23 x 29cms), 16-stave Neapolitan paper, [Naples, probably 1820s]

Catalogue Note
Mercadante's opera Il reggente is based on the same plot (Scribe's Gustave III), as Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. It is set in Scotland in 1570.
