Catalogue Note

Rare: The great collection of librettos at the British Library does not contain those for the premieres of Un giorno di regno,  La sonnambula or any of the Donizetti operas: only those for Nabucco and Otello These librettos provide important information about the first productions, including cast-lists naming some of the most celebrated singers of the era, personnel of the orchestra, stage and choral directors, designers and dancers. In librettos from the 1830s and 1840s, the composer is named only at the foot of the cast-list.
