Description

  • Three autograph letters signed ("EdvardGrieg"), German
1) Autograph letter to Novello, Ewer & Co., declining the publisher's repeated offer to publish a cheap edition of his works, explaining that he feels morally bound not to go against the interest of his original publishers without first coming to some agreement with them ("...ich eine Massenausgabe meiner Werke, welche thatsächlich gegen des Interesse der Originalverleger sein würde..."), 3 pages, 8vo (c.18 x 11cms), printed grey stationery with Grieg's monogram ("EG"), Bergen, 12 July 1887



2) Printed visiting card, signed and inscribed with a fourteen-line message to Wolff, suggesting that they should play the first or second [violin] sonata in Paris, 2 pages, (6.5 x 10cms), 27 November 1889



3) Autograph letter to a pianist ("Hofpianist"), declining his kind invitation to Wiesbaden, explaining that he has lost the desire to visit Germany, that his health has been very poor, that his only brother died two weeks earlier, and exchanging pleasantries regarding his son Edvard  4 pages, 8vo (c.18 x 11.5cms), Troedhaugen, 20 October 1901, splitting at folds
