Catalogue Note
Rare. Debussy has inscribed this copy of his only opera to Raymond Bonheur (1861-1939). Bonheur had been a fellow composition student , and reported to Chausson on the earliest draft of "Pelléas et Mélisande". A note on the flyleaf explains that Debussy composed the opera while staying with Bonheur. This is a very early copy of Debussy's opera with the name of the chorus master given as "Albert Landry" and retaining an uncorrected error on page 272. .
