Catalogue Note

This large and imposing score of Verdi's first French grande opéra, was published just a few weeks after the premiere at the Opéra on 13 June 1855, and may have been prepared during the rehearsals. This is an early and uncorrected issue: two pages (80 and 86) were apparently misnumbered and transposed during the engraving.
