Catalogue Note
Sol Babitz was a violinist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, who often advised Stravinsky on writing for the violin. Stravinsky commended Babitz's violin transcription of the Circus Polka and reports his own contribution in letters to Voigt of 28 June and 25 July 1942 (see Selected Correspondence, iii, 282-83)
