Catalogue Note

Autograph working manuscripts by Schoenberg are of great rarity at auction. This article, entitled Parsifal and Copyright, first published in the Konzert-Taschenbuch, Berlin, 1912 and reprinted in Style and Idea, London, 1975, pp. 491-496. The manuscript clearly shows the developing and fine-tuning of his theme which, in this case deals not only with the financial aspect of German copyright law, but also with the artistic problems of performances at Bayreuth.
