Condition

Overall in fair condition. The Smarty shows considerable wear to the surface of the foam, crazing and discolourations which are all results of the ageing process of the material. There are numerous indented areas to the surface, only two of which have broken the surface of the foam. One loss to the widest point measuring 2 x 1 inch which exposes the yellow coloured foam interior. Surface dirt and discolorations concentrated to the side and lower portion. Underside with a single hole, which is the result of the production process. This piece is very fragile and should be handled with care.

"I do like shapes....I had really just started learning about shapes.  The way the smarty was born was through my getting a huge block of foam...I put this massive metal bolt through the centre of it and attached it to the end of the lathe – the whole machine would be shaking up and down – then I cut into the foam with this really dangerous blade.  Ofcourse, I didn't know what was going on exactly...but it turned out to be one of the greatest accidents of my left.  I remember Tom (Dixon) saying:  You've out minimalized Jasper Morrison"
