This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. There are traces of scattered dust and one chip by the top of the obelisk, partially visible in the catalogue illustration. There are some traces of wear on the parts in relief of the obelisk and by its base. No traces of retouching appear to be under UV light.

"Secondo Lei è lecito parlare di Scuola di Piazza del Popolo?
Si può parlare di Scuola di Piazza del Popolo secondo i limiti che ogni etichetta impone nel bene e nel male. E' rapido e sintetico ricordare così un gruppo di pittori che con fare ancora romantico si riunivano in un luogo (Piazza del Popolo), si incontravano in un bar (Rosati), discutevano in una galleria (la Tartaruga). Più interessante mi sembra ricordare qualcosa di meno identificabile, qualcosa che appariva nei loro quadri e che era stranamente collegata con la luce, l'atmosfera, l'obelisco....la geometria della Piazza. Qualcosa di fortemente malinconico, in fondo, che riguardava Roma e i sentimenti di queste persone."
