ANTIQUE PEARL AND DIAMOND TIARA / NECKLACE, LATE 19TH CENTURY, Cartier

Composed of eleven graduated foliate scrolls alternating with stylised fleur-de-lys motifs, decorated with thirty-two white baroque pearls and rose-cut diamonds, accompanied by a necklace chain extension set with circular-cut diamonds, mounted in silver and gold, length of necklace approximately 425mm.

Colour and Clarity: The pearls are of slightly baroque, some roundish to button-shaped, white to creamy body colour, overall medium to good lustre, several with light grey and rosé overtones and a few with green overtones, textured skin, a few with a more creamy bodycolour. Diamonds of mixed colours, generally SI clarity, diamonds of old cuts of various shapes, weight estimation difficult. The certificate of authenticity states "modification by Cartier Paris in 1934 of an unrecorded late 19th Century diadem/necklace (three motifs were added on each side). Condition: Scratches and tarnish to metal commensurate with normal wear and age. In good condition.
