Description

Set with an oval colour-changing sapphire weighing 10.72 carats, flanked on each side with a half moon-shaped diamond, mounted in platinum.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to Gubelin report, the sapphire is natural, with no indications of heating. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the sapphire has noticeable colour change, from blue in daylight to bluish violet in incandescent light. Fairly clean to the naked eye with a natural fingerprint inclusion across two star facets, and a feather to the side on the pavilion noticeable only under 10x loupe, and does not affect the transparency and brilliance of the stone. There is a slight windowing, but has a pleasing colour and outline. Diamonds are probably of F-G colour, VS2 clarity. Condition: In mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Ring size: 6¾

Accompanied by Gübelin report numbered 0712181, dated 3 January 2008, stating that the 10.72 carat sapphire is natural, colour changing from Blue (daylight) to Bluish-Violet (incandescent light), with no indications of heating, sapphires which have not been heated are scarce.
