Description
- Pendant and seal approximately 38.65 x 18.30 x 9.55 and 32.82 x 16.71 x 10.07mm respectively; tourmaline approximately 5.95mm.
The jadeite pendant of highly translucent jadeite material of celadon tone carved as a deity holding a string of coins, atop a bright green coloured toad of similar translucency, stepping on two coins of celadon tone, strung on a black cord decorated with a pink tourmaline bead, length approximately 380mm; and the translucent jadeite seal of celadon tone suffused with patches of intense green colour surmounted by a carved monkey and bat supporting two peaches. (2)
Condition
Colour and Clarity: In our opinion, the pendant is highly translucent, of celadon tone with splash of intense bright green colour at the bottom (carved as toad). The jadeite seal is of similar quality, with splash of green colour to the top (carved as peaches). Under illumination, both carvings show cloud inclusions, which are not seen in normal lighting. The small tourmaline bead set with the pendant is of strong purple pink colour, eye clean.
Condition: Both carvings represent nice craftsmanship and clever use of natural colour to highlight different objects, overall in very good condition.
