Description

  • Accompanied by Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory Limited certificate numbered KJ36109 and KJ36110, dated 3 July 2008, stating that the jadeites are natural, known in the trade as "A Jade"; also accompanied by two wooden stands.

  • Oval and rectangular plaque approximately 62.00 x 33.83 x 13.46 and 61.68 x 31.43 x 15.61mm respectively; tourmaline and citrine beads approximately 10.45 x 9.69 and 12.44 x 11.20mm respectively.
The oval jadeite plaque of opaque emerald green colour carved with dragon motifs to the front and the reverse, atop a carved Kirin (a Chinese unicorn), symbolised longevity, strung on a black cord decorated with a pink tourmaline bead; the rectangular jadeite plaque of similar colour and translucency carved with dragon and lingzhi-ruyi motifs on both sides, strung on a black cord decorated with a carved citrine quartz. Condition

Colour and Clarity: In our opinion, the two carved jadeite pendants are of similar quality and appearance. Both are opaque, of slightly darker, uneven deep emerald green colour. Upon close look, both carvings have small white inclusions. The carved citrine is of medium, brown-yellow colour, eye clean. Tourmaline bead is of medium, purple-pink colour, moderately included to naked eyes. One wood stand deficient. Condition: Nice carvings, both in very good condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
