Description
- Yellow carving approximately 165.00 x 87.00 x 55.00mm; Lavender carving approximately 100.00 x 70.00 x 38.00mm.
Symbolising longevity, the yellowish material carved as an immortal brushing his beard in standing posture, dressed with a long cape of matted texture with glossy fur trims; the other figure carved of lavender material, perched with a playful monkey, holding a horsetail whisk and a hookah with a hookah-bubble, carved at the back with lotus leaves, accompanied by a rectangular wooden stand.
Condition
Colour and Clarity: In our opinion, the carved yellow jadeite are semi-translucent to opaque, orangy yellow to deep yellow colour with minor patches of deep celadon tone. The other carving is translucent to semi-translucent, uneven shades ranging from very light to intense purple colour, with a few light green patches to the reversed side. Upon close look, some white clouds are shown.
Condition: Very fine craftsmanship shows a clever use of natural colour from the rough. "Old man" symbolizes long life in traditional culture, which gives auspicious meaning to the carvings. Overall in very good condition.
