The REF. 5105P was produced in a very limited series of only 100 pieces. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time REF. 5105 has appeared at auction.
The inaugural REF 5105P was released in 2006 along with REF. 5565A, to celebrate the re-opening of the Salons of Patek Philippe in Geneva. The series is limited to only 100 pieces and sculpted in a platinum rectangular case in the art deco style of 1936 REF. 492. Like its precursor, the Ref. 5105 is outfitted with a caliber 9-90 movement dating back to 1959. A batch of new-old-stock 9-90 calibers were discovered in an old wooden chest in 1996, before the watch making departments moved to Plan-les-Ouates. The silvered satin-finished dial, rectangular case with broad, polished bevels resonate the Ref. 492 and the silhouette of its domed sapphire crystal.
