Condition
This work has a very opaque varnish. It appears that there have been restorations done at different dates. There is older restoration on the face and neck of the virgin, on the top part of her hands and on the face and in the hair of the angel to the left. There are more recent restorations especially to the bottom edge of the painting corresponding to frame abrasions. There is scattered inpainting around the figure of the virgin, the largest measuring 3 ½ by 2 in. in the area left of her elbow. There are also a few lines around St. Joseph. The work appears to be very stable.
