Description

Comprising: An amethyst demi-parure, the necklace composed of a graduated series of oval faceted foil backed amethyst in cannetille work surrounds, to a later twisted chain back, length approximately 445mm, together with a pair of ear pendants en suite, 1820s;  a repoussé work necklace of stylised floral and fringe design, set with variously shaped foil backed pink topaz, length approximately 410mm, 1830s; together with a pendant suspending a mixed-cut amethyst, the surmount and bail millegrain-set with rose-cut diamonds, Early 20th Century.

Condition

Amethyst Necklace: Mounted in gold. Foiling in good condition. Later back chain and clasp. Very few cannetille work beads deficient. Scratches and light indentations consistent with age and wear. Amethyst Ear pendants: Foil in good condition. Top of each setting to principal stone rubbed where cannetille work beads have been removed. Later hook earring fittings. Pink Topaz Necklace: Mounted in gold. Foil discoloured in places, faded and pale. Some stones with small chips, typical inclusions visible with magnification. Central mounts have been built up to reverse in order to reinforce or strengthen the jewel. Traces of solder to reverse not visible when worn. Several indentations and scratches to piece consistent with age and wear. Later associated clasp. Amethyst pendant: Diamonds bright and lively. Amethyst displaying typical chevron inclusions visible with magnification. Light scratches and small nicks to surface. Collection in good condition.
