Description

the miniature snuff bottle of compressed globular pear shape, flanked by a pair of boys facing opposite directions, each smiling broadly as they hold on to the vessel, with a third boy kneeling in between them, their long flowing robes and shoes well defined, the pale celadon tone with russet veining

It is rare to find snuff bottles supported by sculptural figures of boys. Compare a related example, but with two boys flanking the bottle, offered in our New York rooms, 22nd March 1999, lot 192.
