The present and four following illustrations from the Harivamsa or Life of Hari, picture Krishna engaged in divine celebration with his companions, consorts and gopis or followers.



In this scene of heady revelry on the banks of the Yamuna, we see Krishna's companions and their consorts in various stages of intoxication well into their night of merrymaking. The main protagonist Krishna has jumped into the Yamuna and is seen chasing his friend Narada, who tries to escape, while his consort  Satyabhama keeps a watchful eye from behind.

Condition

Fairly good condition. Creasing to some areas. Minor loss of pigment to the faces and some of the characters' robes, particularly at both ends of the image and to Krishna's face at bottom. Colors brighter than catalogue illustration. Displayed in a temporary frame for exhibition.
