Condition
Executed on cream wove paper, laid down on canvas. There are artist's pinholes to all four corners of the sheet and a 3cm. flattened crease to the centre of the left edge.
There is a 1cm. repaired tear just above the guitar. Apart from some light overall surface dirt and a small stain towards the upper left corner, this work is in good condition.
Colours: the paper tone is warmer in the original.

This work is a study for one of Léger's last major commissions, a mosaic to decorate the Sao Paolo Opera House. He did not live to see the work completed.
