Wilhelm Kempff (a gift from the artist to mark his visit to the pianist and composer at his home, Casa Orfeo, in Positano in 1959)
Thence by descent to the present owner

Condition

Executed on cream wove paper, laid down on board, attached to the mount at two points on the top edge. There are scattered feint spots of foxing and staining throughout the sheet, visible in the catalogue illustration. Apart from some minor nick, tears and losses to the periphery of the sheet, not visible when framed, and some time staining to the centre of the sheet, this work is in good condition. Colours: The colours are more vibrant in the original.

This work is part of a serie of six watercolours which were executed during the artist's stay in his house in Villeneuve on the Geneva lake. Each of these works illustrate a mythological scene.
