Description

• fully jeweled nickel lever movement, bi-metallic compensation balance, micrometer regulator, wolf's-tooth winding, gold cuvette • white enamel dial with hairlines, Breguet numerals, blued steel spade hands, four subsidiary dials indicating leap year indicator combined with 30-minute register, day, date and constant seconds combined with moon-phases • 18k gold polished case, minute repeat activated through slide in the band, engraved monogram to the hinged back • case and movement numbered, cuvette and dial signed

Condition

The movement is running however it might need to be cleaned and serviced soon. The movement is numbered 5309. The dial has several hairlines on it from the center going toward the left subsidiary and going up the upper subsidiary, as well as in the left-side day sibsidiary. The signature has mostly worn off, as catalogued, and is now mostly illegible. The case shows general wear and surface scuffs. The outside of the back has an engraved monogram reading 'CMP' set within a black enamel oval that has significant loss and chips. The cuvette is engraved 'C.M.Poncin, Seattle USA'.

Catalogue Note

The firm Golay-Leresche & Fils was one of the finest Swiss watch makers specializing in complicated watches. In 1909, the name was changed to Golay Fils & Stahl. The present lot was produced around the time of this transition, so the cuvette is signed with both names.
