Catalogue Note
Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production with case ornamentation in 'crocodile' and floral motif in colored enamel in 1887 and sale on August 20th, 1889.
The present example is unusual within this period for the firm, as pieces of this size were generally open-faced or demi-hunting cased, whereas the present example is hunting cased and its lovely diamond-set poppy decoration is repeated on both sides of the case.
For a note on Patek Philippe's Art Nouveau lady's pendant watches and another example depicting a fleur de lys, see lot 172.
To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time the present example has been offered at auction.
