• nickel lever movement signed European Watch & Clock Co., Inc., 19 jewels, eight adjustments • silvered dial, Roman numerals, inner tonneau-shaped minutes tracking, blued steel spade hands • rectangular case, diamond-set crown at 12 o'clock, reverse set with onyx bordered by 58 rose-cut diamonds, pendant composed of four old European-cut diamonds and eight rose-cut diamonds • dial and movement signed, case hand-stamped with Cartier numbers and further stamped EJ for Edmund Jaeger • with a Cartier modified bow-form lapel pin set with 32 rose-cut diamonds and two old European-cut diamonds centered by onyx, hand-stamped with Cartier numbers 9106

The movement is running, however it might require service or cleaning soon. The movement is numbered 14463/5 on the underdial side. The dial is rather aged and discolored to the edges, however it looks to be original with the 'Bte. S.G.D.G.' clear at the bottom. The dial has great character and looks nice. The case shows general wear and light surface scuffs. The dog's head stamp to the band is very sharp. The pendant below the ribbon is hand stamped 9106. The lapel pin is stamped 9106 and stamped with a dog's head. The inside of the case back as well as the inside of the bezel are numbered 9624. Overall this is a wonderful piece in very nice condition considering its age.

It is interesting to note that the dial on the present example has the designation 'Bte S. G. D. G.', which is an abbreviation for 'Breveté Sans Garantie du Gouvernement' (Patented without Government Guarantee). Because they are frequently lost during service or refinishing to the dial, these letters are very rarely seen on dials from this early period.
