Movement running while cataloguing, minute repeating sound is rich, crisp and well-paced, retrograde date, day, month and moon phases appears fully operational and advancing. Dial in very good condition. Case retains excellent definition. Buckle with no signs of use. Overall appears in unused condition. Case back retains Patek Philippe service sticker. The watch was serviced by Patek Philippe. It is a rare, collectable and stunning watch.

Patek Philippe No.1908044 Ref.5013P

Reference 5013 was launched in 1992 and is one of the most complex wristwatches ever made by Patek Philippe with a total of 515 parts. During the early part of the 20^th Century, Patek Philippe produced a small number of minute repeating wristwatches but production of the complication ceased in the late 1950s. To celebrate the company's 150th Anniversary in 1989, a minute repeating Patek Philippe wristwatch was once again introduced but, for the first time, featured an automatic calibre. This innovation led to the development of the Reference 5013, combining the extra complications of perpetual calendar, moon-phases and retrograde calendar. The retrograde date hand moves along a 270 degree arc and at midnight of the last day of each month, it flies back to the first of the month. During this precisely controlled fly-back phase, the hand is disconnected from the drive train and is cleverly captured back on the 1st of the month to ensure it does not slip forward by a day.

The case of the Reference 5013 is highly reminiscent of one of Patek Philippe's most important vintage repeating wristwatches, no. 198.212. That watch, also made in a platinum tortue case, was made for Henry Graves Jr. and is illustrated in Huber, M., & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Second Edition, p.315, pl. 470a-d , it is also exhibited in the Patek Philippe Museum.

According to our research, the present wristwatch is the 8^th example of reference 5013 to have appeared at auction in platinum. This wristwatch has just been serviced by Patek Philippe.
