• gilt brass hexagonal movement with verge escapement, fusée and chain for going train, standing barrels for the strike and quarters, winged balance cock pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls, foot conforming to the shape of the backplate, numbered countwheel, two steel hammers, pull repeat now lacking • later 3½ inch gilt-metal dial with outer Arabic numerals and inner Roman numerals, steel spade hands, central alarm disc • hexagonal gilt-brass case with glazed apertures on all sides within lozenge frames, raised on six turned feet, the bell set into the base • backplate appears to be signed Gabrhr, London
