Rare and collectible! Manual winding movement is running, split second chronograph functions appear fully operational while cataloguing. Beautiful clean silvered dial with the tourbillon at 6 o'clock. Case and buckle with no significant signs of use. Push buttons are firm. Overall appears in excellent condition. The apex of the German watch maker's complicated line: the tourbograph couples the tradional art of watch making with modern ingenuity. This watch incorporates the chain and fuée mechanism with the tourbillon, perfecting the movement's long-term accuracy, in addition to a spilt seconds chronograph. As a result of this technical achievement, the Tourbograph earned the prestigious German accolade for watch making "Pour Le Mérite".  The chain and fusée mechanism of Pour Le Mérite was made of steel, where friction existed with steel on steel. For the present lot, steel was replaced by copper beryllium, a new material with a lower friction coefficient.

Composed of over 1000 parts and due to the complexity of assembly, manufacture is limited to 12 pieces per year, and only 51 pieces will be produced.

The present example is numbered 8, an auspicious number that phonetically resembles the Chinese word "Fa" meaning "Good Fortune".
