The current set of REF. 5076P platinum 'Year of the Dog' wristwatches with enamel dials, belong to Patek Philippe's Zodiac enamel series specially made for the Asian market.  

The Chinese Zodiac follows a 12-year cycle, with a distinct animal designated to each year in the cycle.  Chinese astronomers followed the orbit of Jupiter, the Year Star, also known as the 'Suixing' and divided the celestial into 12 sections.  The 'Year of the Dog' is situated in the 11^th place in the Chinese Zodiac cycle.     

To the best of our knowledge, only 3 sets are produced annually in celebration of the corresponding Chinese Zodiac animal.  This is the first time that the current example has appeared at auction.
