• gilt brass full plate verge movement with fusee and later chain, the back plate signed Bouquet Londini A.D. 1625, later flat balance with hair spring, silver pinned floral spray cock, worm and wheel set up, pierced silver tulip pillars • the dial with silver chapter ring and black champlevé enamel Roman numerals, central silver gilt dial indicating the ages and phases of the moon centred by an engraved rendition of three angels, outer gilt date ring with engraved hand motif for indication, plain Puritan oval inner case, the back with covered keyhole, plain hinged outer protective case with gilt inner

Condition

Movement running, the string gut has been replaced by chain, adjustments advised for full service. Lacking hand for indicating the ages of the moon. An unusual and very rare complicated watch from that period.

Catalogue Note

David Bouquet was admitted to the Blacksmiths' Company in 1628 and the Clockmakers' Company in 1632. Of French origins, Bouquet was a fine maker and died in 1665, a year before the great fire of London.
