Benassy, Genève, bi-metallic compensation balance, precision regulator, repeating on two polished steel gongs, plain cuvette stamped inside with the calatrava cross and numbered 282243 • white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands • 18k gold polished case with repeating slide in the band, engraved monogram 'LB' to the rear cover • case back stamped PP Co. and no. 282243, movement and dial signed L. Benassy
Provenance
Following the death of Antoine Norbert Patek in 1877, a son-in-law of Adrien Philippe, the French Joseph Antoine Benassy, succeeded to him in 1878 as the commercial director of the company. As for Léon Benassy, grand son of Joseph Antoine Benassy, he was active as a watchmaker in the Patek Philippe company from 1919 to 1921.
Condition
The movement is running and repeating while cataloguing. It's strike is loud and clear. Enamel dial in good condition. Case overall with light scuffs. Case engraved and monogrammed BL. A rare example of a watch made by a descendant of Adrien Philippe.
