gilt brass full plate verge movement with three wheel train, signed on the back plate Daniel Gom, floral pierced and engraved balance cock secured by a blued steel screw, plain steel two-arm balance, ratchet wheel set up, fusee for going train with gut line, amphore pillars • silver dial with wax filled numerals, centre with fine floral engraving, half hour divisions, single blued steel hour hand, dial plate with leaf engraving • silver case with highly engraved sections, split bezel, slide cover for winding square
Condition
The movement has been cleaned and is running. Case and dial in beautiful condition. Overall an extremely attractive early watch. Overall good aged condition. Interesting example of a well preserved watch from this period.

Catalogue Note
DANIEL GOM
Born in 1594, from swiss origin, he established himself as a clock and watchmaker in 1631. He was chosen to build a town hall clock for the city of Lyon in 1650. He also built the four dial clock in Autun for 4.000 livres. At the peak of his career, he was appointed watchmaker of the city of Lyon. Sadly in later life, he turned to drink and was destitute in 1665.
A watch signed 'D. Gom a Lyon' is exhibited in the Lemberg Museum, Austria.
