Catalogue Note

The Mare Nostrum is a reproduction of an officer's deck chronograph originally prototyped in 1943 but never put into production because of the events of the second World War. The prototype (which is now sitting in the Panerai Museum ) is 52mm in diameter, compared to 42mm of the revived version of 1993 called 5218-301/A housing an ETA 2801-2 movement with a Dubois-Depraz 3127 chrono module.
The original prototype dial colour was black and the 5218-301/A was the first Panerai without a black dial.
