Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Certificate of Origin.

The movement and case numbers do not match the original Archive entry and therefore it would appear that the movement or case were changed during a servicing. It should be noted that both the Patek Philippe movement and case were both manufactured around the 1940s and this wristwatch has remained in the same family since its original purchase.

Reference 130 was manufactured from 1936 until circa 1964. The first referenced chronograph produced in series by Patek Philippe, examples in steel are especially desirable being rarer than those in yellow and pink gold. Standard versions of the reference bear Arabic or Roman and baton numeral dials; the present wristwatch carries the unusual combination of applied dot and Roman numerals.

Examples of reference 130 and the calibre 13-130 are illustrated in Huber, M., & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Second Edition, p.262-264 and 269.
