Description
Offered here is an ONL (Frick) baseball that presumably passed through the hands of some of baseball's most prolific legends during a gathering at Cooperstown in the late 1940's. Sixteen signatures appear throughout with a generous sampling of some of the most desirable signatures a collector could hope to find on a single ball, highlighted by the north panel of the sphere that features; Tris Speaker, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth, Charlie Gehringer, and Eddie Collins. Other panels include - West panel: Johnny Vandermeer, Mel Ott, Ty Cobb. East panel: James Farley (Postmaster General), Ira Thomas, Lew Fonseca, Lefty Grove. South panel: Grover C. Alexander, Dizzy Dean, Hank Greenberg, Cy Young. A dozen Hall of Famers are present in all. The signatures are consistently bold, averaging 7/10 conservatively. The ball appears unused, with a coat of shellac having been applied unevenly, slightly toning the ball where present. A magnificent assemblage of autographs from what must have been a grand gathering of baseball talent. EX to EX-MT condition overall. LOA from PSA/DNA.
