Description

As the Athletics formed a core group of talent around Al Simmons, Jimmie Foxx and Mickey Cochrane, in 1927, Connie Mack acquired Ty Cobb from the Detroit Tigers to help show his young players how to win. The move helped the A's post a solid 91-63 record, an 8 game improvement over the prior season. This unmarked, red and green stitched ball features 21 signatures including a remarkable 8 Hall of Famers; Mack, Grove, Cochrane, Cobb, Foxx, Collins, Wheat, and Simmons. The signatures average 6/10, with a large Cobb standing out at the center of a side panel. The lightly toned ball is fairly clean throughout, and is protected by a clear coat of shellac. Excellent overall condition. LOA from PSA/DNA.
