Description

Featuring one round diamond (total .45 karat), this 14 karat gold ring commemorates not only the New York Yankees 22nd championship, but a ferocious comeback just to get to the playoffs. Down 14 games in mid-August, the regular season came down to a one game winner-take all 5-2 win over the century long rival Red Sox,  thanks to Bucky Dent's seventh inning 3-run homer off of former Bomber Mike Torrez. After that, the AL playoffs against the Kansas City Royals (won 3-1) and the World Series rematch against the Dodgers (4-2, helped by Mr. October) seemed a walk in the ball park, helped by Layton's constant call of "Charge" on the organ. The face features a diamond logo, around which reads "WORLD CHAMPIONS". One side of the band shows the Yankee logo across an image of the World Series trophy and below a Yankee Stadium facade type design. The other side is engraved "Layton", plus the year notation 1978 above the NY logo and words "Pride" and "Tradition." Measurements: Size 9 3/4. Condition: Overall excellent condition, some wear from use.
