Description
The 1949 season witnessed the first of the Yankees record five World Championships. A large factor in the team's success during that year was the play of catcher Yogi Berra, who averaged 26 home runs and 101 RBI over that five year span. Offered here is a magnificent signed item that commemorates that start of that historic championship run: Yogi Berra's 1949 New York Yankees players contract. The contract is dated March 1, 1949 and call for Berra to receive a salary of $14,000 for the season. It has been signed on the inside in blue ink "Lawrence Peter Berra" and also includes signatures from AL President William Harridge and Yankees VP George Weiss. The contract has typical horizontal folds and is in excellent condition. LOA from PSA/DNA.
