Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This painting is in fine condition. There is a crack in the panel situated in the upper right and the reverse has been cradled. The paint layer is probably slightly dirty, yet if the crack were to be repaired and a fresh varnish applied, the picture would be presented nicely.
There are restorations visible under ultraviolet light here and there in the lower sky and in what appears to be an original panel join which runs horizontally through the center. However, apart from a few dots in the dark color in the lower center, the painting seems to be in very presentable condition.
