Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This painting on canvas has been recently restored. The canvas is lined and the texture of the paint is still very fresh. The paint layer has been cleaned but not abraded.
Retouches have been carefully added in the right side of the face and hair addressing some cracking. There are a few spots in the background on the left side which are visible under ultraviolet light and the profiles of the fingers have been straightened slightly. In general, despite these and a few other small cosmetic restorations, the condition is good.
